Forget the Past

The Righteous Shall Flourish: Lessons Part 8 (P8) from the Book of Ps 92:12-14 – FORGET THE PAST

“The Righteous shall flourish like the Palm Tree: He shall grow like a Cedar in Lebanon” (Psalms 92:12). That is our Scripture Text for today.

According to researcher, because the natural oils in the Cedar tree does not develop in their younger years, there may be attacks that could cause the heart-wood (Inner trunk) to rot in younger trees. This rot often leads to a hollow in the trunk when the trees are older. It follows that; the attack that the Cedar suffers when it is young and immature creates a hollow in the tree when it is mature.

The hollow in mature Cedar trees eventually serve as homes for animals. In other words, what looks like a damage on the Cedar tree in its younger years creates comfort for animals in later years. What looks like an attack on the Cedar tree in younger years now serves a higher purpose when the tree grows to maturity.

Beloved, isn’t that true like the Cedar tree, we often recall attacks we faced in the past and somehow, those attacks leave us with scars, pains and sometimes unjustifiable? We recall things about our past which we would ordinarily want to wish away if we could. Our life stories are often filled with tales of past failures, past mistakes, past heart-breaks, past misadventures, past sins etc. (Rom 16:33)

Today, hear God’s word to you: Your past attacks will provide comfort to your generation. The things you suffered in time past will help you to comfort others who may get stuck in similar situations in time to come. Those that may have hurt you in the past only prepared you to heal others in future (Rom 8:28).

The challenges you went through and suffered for the Kingdom will help other believers out of their own struggles and provide comfort to your generations. There is someone waiting to hear your story to overcome.

Pray with me, “Lord, may the pains and troubles of yesterday give comfort to my generation”.

Enjoy a Flourishing Week!
